Sustainability

As an Omni channel business, our packaging is an important consideration. With thousands of parcels shipping nationally, Lorraine Lea and our Stylists want every order to be uniquely recognisable with minimal environmental impact. As a testament to our commitment to sustainable packaging, we have targets that we strive to achieve over the next five years.

We're doing better for a better future

You asked, and we delivered! We were asked to source sustainable shipping satchels, and we’ve worked hard on a solution! As of April 2022, we’ve transitioned to more sustainable satchels. This means your next order with Lorraine Lea will be delivered in a satchel made of 80% post-consumer plastic waste – recycled plastic that has had a previous life and can be recycled again. It was essential for us to achieve a 100% recyclable package in our new pink satchels.

Post-Consumer Plastic Waste Satchel

Post-consumer plastic waste is recycled plastic that has had a previous life and can be recycled again. The importance of this material cannot be overlooked. These satchels are made from 80% recycled material, thus, re-using material otherwise destined for landfill. We maintain a small 20% new plastic for durability in shipping. Our sustainability commitments go beyond our satchels. We are committed to new packaging across our products. To avoid unnecessary waste, transitioning our packaging will take time to roll out. So don’t worry, it’s still in development. We will share our next sustainability steps here.

How to recycle our packaging

Is Lorraine Lea Pink Satchel Recyclable?
Yes! The Lorraine Lea recognisable pink satchel is 100% recyclable, and we agree that we have the collective responsibility when it comes to disposing of packaging.

Soft Plastics
The Lorraine Lea new pink satchels are made of 80% recycled post-consumer plastic waste, which you can recycle (again). The transparent bags we wrap individual items into are also recyclable.

Why does Lorraine Lea use plastic packaging?
Every item from Lorraine Lea – whether it’s a Quilt Cover, Bed Sheets or Towel – requires natural resources to produce it. For example, the energy used for manufacturing, water used to dye, or fuel for transportation. When these products are in transit to us, you, or even at our warehouse, they risk getting dusty, wet, or damaged. That’s why packaging plays an essential product-protection role in ensuring that your item arrives in pristine condition.
